EMC partners with Rajasthan Technical University

emc2EMC Corporation announced a partnership with Rajasthan Technical University (RTU), Kota to support the faculty and students in enhancing their skills in the areas of Cloud Computing, Information Storage and Data Analytics. EMC through its Academic Alliance initiative will offer unique ‘open’ curriculum based education on technology topics like cloud computing, big data analytics and information storage & management to faculty and students from the institute. With this association, the company expects to train over 1000 faculty members, in turn benefiting over 7000 students who are currently pursuing cloud computing as a core subject in RTU’s B. Tech program.
The rapid growth in digital information is spurring the demand for trained storage, IT infrastructure, cloud, data science and analytics professionals who possess the skills and knowledge relevant for the changing industry. This fast-paced increase in demand has resulted in a massive shortfall of skilled industry-ready professionals. As per an EMC Zinnov study, the private cloud industry alone in India is expected to create 100,000 jobs by 2015 from 10,000 in 2011 and the demand is unlikely to be met. The EMC Academic Alliance initiative aims to bridge the skill-gap in a rapidly changing IT environment and prepare students for better employability.
Under the partnership, EMC will provide ‘Domain experts’ to conduct the ‘Faculty Development Program’ and also offer faculty access to the online repository of resource material and the MOOC training programs. Furthermore, the company will establish an Academic Center of Excellence equipped with software and simulators to help students get hands on learning and experience on cloud computing, Information Storage & Management and Data Science. EMC shall also assist institutes affiliated to RTU establish similar Centre of Excellence in their respective campuses and help RTU set up a ‘Data Analytic Lab’ for students thereby benefiting thousands of students scale up to meet the changing requirements of the IT industry.
